  1. It's worth noting, Gary, that Williams had expressed opinions on Fox News in which he said he distrusted and feared "obviously Islamic or Middle Eastern" persons when he saw them on the same flight he was taking.

    Ms. Simeone was terminated for participating in and assisting the organization of a public protest on her own time, and entirely apart from her services to the the programming which constitutes about half of her income.

    NPR has expressed that its concern in such cases is to "de-politicize" NPR, I suppose to avoid criticism that it may be "left-leaning", or otherwise skewed. However, other NPR news and opinion commentators do provide political commentary on a variety of television broadcasts.

    My particular concern in this case is to learn why NPR has intervened to have Ms. Simeone terminated at WDAV when her personal political life has no apparent bearing on her broadcast work.
